All very interesting, but I found one thought to be the most thought provoking:
"Peter Berger, a former president of the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, once said that, "People will become so bored with what religious groups have to offer that they will look elsewhere.""
In a sense I actually think this is part of the problem: not that being flashy or creative or entertaining is the answer, but that society has come to value those superficial qualities more, while valuing qualities like mercy, service, and sense of accomplishment less.
